Forward Deployed AI Engineer

As a Forward Deployed AI Engineer, you will be embedded directly with our clients to design, build, and deploy real AI systems that create measurable business impact. You will craft production-ready solutions that reshape how people work and how businesses operate.

You’ll operate across the full lifecycle, from scoping client needs and assessing their existing data and software stack, to rapidly building prototypes using low-code or no-code tools, and then evolving them into robust, scalable AI systems integrated with enterprise infrastructure.

You’ll work in tandem with the Product Managers, Client Partners, Software Engineers, and UX Designers to turn AI strategies into operational systems to ensure every deployment is accurate, reliable, and aligned with real-world use.

Some key responsibilities:

• Deploy and customise AI solutions directly within client environments, ensuring operational readiness and adoption.

• Design and implement agentic AI systems and automation workflows tailored to client-specific use cases.

• Combine low-code / no-code prototyping with engineered enhancements in Python, TypeScript, or other backend stacks.

• Perform data exploration, evaluation-driven experimentation, and build continuous feedback loops to improve real-world performance.

• Translate functional and technical analyses into scalable, maintainable AI solutions.

• Collaborate with client technical teams to ensure smooth integration with their infrastructure, data sources, and tools.

• Contribute to building Faktion’s reusable AI components, best practices, and engineering playbooks.

• Support the operationalisation of Evaluation-Driven Development (EDD) across projects — ensuring every solution is tested, measured, and improved.

• Strong technical foundation in AI engineering, software development, and system integration.

• Hands-on experience with LLM frameworks (e.g. LangChain, Semantic Kernel, LlamaIndex) or AI orchestration tools.

• Proficiency in Python or another backend language (TypeScript, Go, or similar).

• Familiarity with cloud-based environments such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.

• Experience with RESTful APIs, containerisation (Docker), and version control (Git).

• Understanding of retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), agent workflows, or MLOps pipelines is a strong plus.

• Consulting mindset — ability to engage with stakeholders, understand business problems, and translate them into technical solutions.

• Curiosity about understanding how client systems, data, and processes interact.

• Excellent communication skills in English (Dutch or French is a plus).

Following experiences are a plus:

• Experience with multi-agent systems or evaluation pipelines in production.

• Background in automation, process mining, or workflow engineering.

• Experience deploying AI in enterprise environments (e.g. Microsoft ecosystem, CRM/ERP integration, or internal knowledge bases).

• Contributions to open-source AI frameworks or internal tooling.

• Prior experience in consulting, system integration, or enterprise software delivery.
